Encouraging Kids to Eat Apples
Michigan Apples hopes to inspire and educate kids about the wonderful world of apples. By doing this they have requested the creation of a series of apple posters that can be showcased throughout the halls of schools. These posters not only can be hung up on the walls, but also presented around walkways outdoors.
Michigan Apples hopes to educate children in fun and different ways about what makes apples so special. For instance, how different cultures view apples as well as give them inspiration to create fun and new apple recipes or simply inform them of different health facts regarding apples. Thus, each poster needs to be unique while still connecting to one another through design. By doing this I explored hierarchy within the typeface and using imagery that is fun and bold to catch the attention of young minds.

Apple Pie Tacos - Fun New Recipe
This poster features a fun, simple recipe that any kid would love to try. It’s the only one of the three that doesn’t use an apple as the focal point, because it focuses on what an apple can become. To keep its significance and creating more contrast, the apple is transformed into subtle line art in the background.

The Apple in China
This poster highlights China’s cultural view of apples as a symbol of peace. People sometimes give apples to wish others safety and harmony. Many families will even cut up an apple and give it to a family member to show love to one other. Though small, this fruit carries a powerful message for the people of China.

Why Eat Apples
Apples offer many health benefits, including helping maintain energy levels, lowering cholesterol, and supporting digestive health. In this design, the peel unwraps and wraps around the apple to draw attention to it. This highlights the idea that much of an apple’s nutrition is found in its peel.

Outside Setting
The posters can be used together in a way to enhance one another by showing their similarities and differences.
